We're up and running
We usually get around on two wheels. But on October 4, we traded our bike pedals for running shoes: Team eurorad was at the starting line of the 2026 Cologne Marathon—competing across all distances.
A quick recap: a kids' race, three four-person relays, a half marathon, and a full marathon. Plus a hospitality area where we celebrated, marveled, and took a good, long breather.
The youngest starter first
Our young athletes kicked things off. It all started with the kids' race—with race numbers on their chests and smiles that lasted all the way to the finish line.
A medal around our necks, family cheering us on along the course, the full big-city vibe: There’s no better way to kick off a marathon weekend. To be honest, that motivated us at least as much as any training plan.
Four relays, twelve runners, one team
On Sunday, things got serious. Four teams of four shared the 42.195-kilometer course—twelve colleagues who are usually found working in the portal, sales, or customer service.
The baton represents what we do in our everyday lives as well: pass it on, trust, and keep running. Each handoff was a small celebration; each leg was a race in its own right.
21.1 and 42.195 kilometers
Half Marathon: The 21.1-kilometer course through the neighborhoods, past thousands of spectators, in 1:57:31—on a day like this, Cologne shows what a great atmosphere really means.
Marathon: Another team member tackled the ultimate challenge. 42.195 kilometers, a time of 4:00:16, and a finish that won’t be forgotten anytime soon. Hats off—to the achievement and to every kilometer of training that led up to it.
Our Base Camp: The Hospitality Area
Between the starts and after crossing the finish line, we had a set meeting place: the hospitality area. There, we refueled, put our feet up, and celebrated every finish time as if it were a world record.
For everyone who wasn't running themselves, it was the perfect place to cheer on the runners and share in the excitement. And for us as a team, it was a moment when you realize: Everyone here is truly pulling together.
Conclusion: We'll be back in 2027
From a kids’ race to a full marathon—this weekend showed just how much energy our team has. At eurorad, physical activity isn’t just a business model—it’s a way of life.
Thanks to all the runners, the fans along the course, and the Cologne Marathon organizing team. We’d love to do it again next year—maybe with a fourth relay team?
And starting Monday, it's back to business as usual: riding my company bike to the office. My legs are grateful.
