Insuring a Leased Bicycle – Practical Steps & Decision-Making Guide

When you sign a lease agreement with eurorad, your leased bike is automatically insured. You don’t need any separate insurance policies or additional points of contact. The nationwide dealer network, with over 5,000 specialty shops, ensures you receive local support and fast claims processing. The lease insurance covers all agreed-upon claims involving your e-bike or bicycle: from normal wear and tear to accident damage and theft.

When choosing the right insurance package for your leased bicycle or e-bike, weigh your need for security against your cost tolerance. Of course, the Basic package is less expensive than the PremiumPLUS coverage, but the cost differences are minimal. In particular, the company bike insurance included in the PremiumPLUS package provides planning certainty for everyone involved. Thanks to this insurance, employees can use their company bikes without worrying about additional costs, and companies receive 100% protection against recourse claims.

Safety as the Foundation for Successful Mobility

eurorad’s bike leasing insurance is the foundation of your company bike leasing program. Three insurance packages offer optimal solutions for a variety of needs and budgets. This combination of comprehensive coverage, transparent costs, and nationwide service makes eurorad a reliable partner for your sustainable mobility. Use the eurorad leasing calculator to find the right insurance for your bike leasing program.

Cost Transparency: What It Really Costs to Insure Your Leased Bike

The costs of eurorad insurance plans (Basic, Premium, and PremiumPlus) are calculated transparently, based on the list price of the leased bicycle. For an e-bike valued at 3,7000 euros, the additional monthly cost for the PremiumPlus package is approximately 15–20 euros. This investment is minimal compared to the potential cost of damage to a high-end e-bike.

eurorad keeps its insurance terms and conditions deliberately simple. There are no complicated exclusions or hidden clauses. The bicycle insurance, which includes an inspection, ensures that your leased bicycle is serviced regularly. After all, it should be in perfect working order. Depending on your insurance package, you may pay a deductible for repairs (Basic Package), or the repairs may be completely free of charge for you (Premium and PremiumPLUS Packages).

FAQ – Bike Leasing Insurance

eurorad offers three insurance packages: Basic, Premium, and PremiumPLUS. These differ in terms of coverage and deductible. The comprehensive coverage includes, among other things, repairs, wear and tear, theft, vandalism, damage from falls, and improper handling.

Your company makes a one-time decision regarding which insurance package you can choose. This is specified in the master agreement and applies to all new contracts.

Once signed, the lease agreement—including the insurance—cannot be changed. It remains in effect under the agreed-upon terms for the entire 36-month term. Since you cannot change it later, you should carefully consider which insurance package best suits your needs.

The UVV Safety Check is a professional safety inspection of your leased bicycle, conducted after the first and second years of the lease. This inspection is based on the Accident Prevention Regulations (UVV) and was developed in collaboration with the German Social Accident Insurance (DGUV) in accordance with the DGUV 70 standard for vehicles. eurorad Insurance covers the cost of 30.00 euros per inspection. The UVV check ensures that your leased bike remains roadworthy and in good working order.

You can have a UVV safety check performed at any eurorad partner. You are not required to use the bike dealer from whom you originally purchased your company bike.

Report any damage to a eurorad authorized dealer. The dealer will forward the damage report for your bicycle to the insurance company. The repair will be carried out as quickly as possible and billed directly to the insurance company.

Report a theft immediately to eurorad or an authorized dealer. Once the theft claim has been approved, you will receive a current-value token equal to 50% of the lease payments already made, to be used as a down payment on a new bicycle.
