Danube Cycle Path, Germany/Austria
The Danube Cycle Path is one of the most popular bike paths in Europe. It runs from the source of the Danube in Donaueschingen to its mouth on the Black Sea. It takes in a wide variety of landscapes and sights! The stretch from Passau to Vienna is especially recommended.
Lake Constance Bike Trail
The Lake Constance Cycle Route is a 260-kilometer route around Lake Constance that passes through three countries: Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. This mix of countries offers breathtaking scenery. You’ll also cycle through charming towns and villages along the way.
Elbe Bike Path
The Elbe Cycle Route is one of the most popular cycling routes, especially in Germany. The 1,200-kilometer route runs along the Elbe River from the Czech border to the North Sea. The varied landscape along the route offers beautiful views. You’ll also pass through historic cities such as Dresden and Magdeburg.
Baltic Sea Coast Cycle Route
1,000 kilometers along the Baltic Sea from Flensburg to Usedom: This route is a popular choice for e-bike riders planning a trip with the sea breeze in their faces. It stretches along the entire German Baltic Sea coast and offers breathtaking views of the coastal landscape.
Altmühltal Bike Trail
For history buffs: The bike path in the Altmühl Valley stretches 250 kilometers through picturesque landscapes, passing historic landmarks along the way. The route winds through the beautiful Altmühl Valley from Rothenburg ob der Tauber to Kelheim.
Alsace-Rhine Cycle Route
If you’re heading further south by bike and would like to head toward France, you can start in Karlsruhe, known as the “Fan City”: One of the most famous routes is the Alsace-Rhine Bike Path, which runs for about 170 kilometers from Strasbourg to Karlsruhe. The route is mostly flat and winds along the Rhine through small villages, vineyards, and nature reserves. The bike path thus offers not only scenic beauty but also the opportunity to discover the culinary highlights of Alsace.
Bavaria and the Czech Border
Several bike trails that start in Bavaria run through the Czech Republic. One example is the bike trail along the Eger River (Ohře in the Czech Republic), which begins in the town of Marktredwitz in Bavaria and leads all the way to Karlovy Vary in the Czech Republic. This bike trail is about 120 kilometers long in total and offers beautiful scenery along the river as well as numerous sights along the way.
Island Tourism: Rügen & Usedom
As Germany’s largest island, Rügen is a true paradise for cyclists. Its well-developed network of bike paths makes it easy to explore the countryside. The chalk cliffs in Jasmund National Park are particularly beautiful. The route around the island of Rügen is about 240 kilometers long. Usedom, Germany’s second-largest island, also offers numerous bike paths along the coast and through forests. Highly recommended is the 25-kilometer-long Usedomer Bäderbahn Bike Path, which passes by the imperial spas.
Amsterdam & Surrounding Area, Netherlands
From North Rhine-Westphalia, you can be in the neighboring country in no time at all: The flat landscape and well-developed network of bike paths make the Netherlands a universally popular destination for cycling trips. Amsterdam and its surroundings, in particular, offer many interesting sights. You can cycle leisurely along the canals and through the picturesque villages while enjoying the atmosphere.
Brittany, France
If you’re willing to travel a bit farther—perhaps taking your bikes on the train or renting some on site—you should definitely consider a cycling trip along the coast of Brittany. Brittany is known for its spectacular scenery and many historic sites. Here, you can cycle along the coast while enjoying the fresh sea air. We especially recommend a tour from Saint-Malo to Mont Saint-Michel—the small rocky island that’s separated from the mainland by the tidal flats.
The routes are all well-suited for e-bikes, as they are mostly flat or have moderate inclines.
